Hey All,

Just arrived here a week or two back and have started playing LORD for the first time since nineteen-ninety-something... Kind of a surprise, but awesome in any case...

I'm currently playing in Blue, as I thought it sensible to start there while I get to remembering how to play - but was wondering - can anyone tell me if there is any real difference between Blue and Green - apart from the fact that camping is permissible in Blue?

Hi! Welcome to Nuklear!

Blue realm is the perfect place to start. Blue realm allows camping and it's the biggest rule the new players break. When you play for the first time in many years you are bound to move pretty slowly and not know the exact ins and outs of the game, so camping can happen quite easily. I suggest staying in Blue for a couple of rounds whilst you hone your skills.

The camping rule is the only difference between Blue and Green. Everything else is the same. Some would say Green is a little more competitive because of the no camping rule, but it's just a different rule set really.

Obviously, Injektilo is still a noob around here, so let me clarify it a lil' better...

Do not underestimate the effect that CAMPING has on a competitive game.
If you aren't a competitive player, you may not notice it as much.

BLUE realmers will cry to you that they too are competitive, but the reality is that they have "lottery tickets" in Blue that give you a free pass to level 12.
Since the campers aren't really competing for the same goal, it undermines the games integrity.
On an individual level, good LORD players do play in the Blue Realm so I'm not knocking them as players, just the game parameters.

We still do get CAMPERS in green from time to time, and as the are usually only punished after-the-fact, they do still affect the games outcome.

As you can tell, I have no use for CAMPERS and I have a dream that one day they will all be perma-banned.

Also, Zestra & Louisfemme play in GREEN, so the babes are hotter!

Campers affect the green realm far more than they affect the blue realm.

In the blue realm, campers are abundant in number and accessible throughout the game for people with enough skills in their later dragon kills. In the green realm, the one stray camper can provide an unexpected boost to the ONE person lucky enough to be on when the camper happens to be alive. See the most recent "Camper in the green realm" post in fair play.

Because campers are so abundant, blue realmers who happen to stumble upon xp are unlikely to have the equipment to make a quick run to 12, whereas the same is not true in green realm.

In response to the question as to how I found the site - I was watching an episode of the Simpsons where Marge starts playing some computer game with Bart and gets addicted to it and it made me think of LORD for some reason (which had not crossed my mind since the BBS days). I was wondering if it was still going anywhere and so consulted that most trusty, reliable and precise of seers, the one that answers all - Google. I think it was in the top few results. And here I am, soaking up the nostalgia.
