"If the world ended today, what do you think your greatest accomplishment in the industry will have been?"

or something along those lines... maybe a "When it's all said and done, what kind of legacy or mark on the industry would you like to leave behind?"

Not sure... I know the question I wanna ask is in there, just had one of those rare moments of not being able to decide how to phrase it once I started to write it down!

I've never ran across anyone who experienced the BBS era who wasn't familiar with Seth Robinson either through TEOS or LoRD or simply hearing others chat about him on the walls, etc. I know that we all probably have our own biased opinions that LoRD is his high mark, but I'd honestly be curious if he feels that was his high mark, or if maybe Dink or the work he's been doing on iPhones is what he's most proud of, you know?

and if the creation has LORD has helped or hindered his success in the role of bachelor of the year. and also, when girls do try to talk to him do they always (a)sk him to sing and then do they (f)lirt with him, or do they straight to the (w)riting of the love letters?

Postby injektilo on Tue Oct 12, 2010 8:13 pm

Ok, here's my final list of questions with some revisions. Any thoughts on changes, alterations, spelling mistakes etc?

1. Why do Death Knights have no advantage over Thieves and are worse in every regard? (Plague Monkey)

2. What is your fondest memory from the heyday of LoRD? (Dazhbog)

3. Legend of the Red Dragon is heavily played and dissected all throughout the internet today, twenty-one years after its initial creation. Though some people have altered the client or content in one way or another, including Metropolis Gameport themselves, the basic 4.00a and below versions continue to not only survive, but thrive two generations later, drawing in players old and new. Did you expect the game to have this kind of legacy? (Doc Lithius/injektilo*)

4. Why is the Black Sorcerer, a Level 5 enemy, found at Level 10 as well, but completely unchanged? And why does the Vegetable Creature, a Level 11 enemy, have the stats of a Level 6 enemy (or Level 5 super-enemy)? (Doc Lithius)

5. If you had your own Tardis (Delorean) and could go back in time and advise your younger self to do one thing different with LoRD, what would it be? (Maverick1978)

6. Why are the level eleven monsters so much more dangerous across the board than the level 12 monsters? Is this a subtle way of encouraging players to camp out at level 8 until they earn 10 million experience points and then go straight to level 12? (Valkyrie)

7. Did you expect the game to be linear? i.e. people upgrade through all the weapons and gain experience on every level. Or did you expect people to strategize and dissect the game as is done now? (Plague Monkey)

8. If the world ended today, what do you think your greatest accomplishment in the gaming industry will have been? (Maverick1978)

9. When girls approach you do they always (A)sk you to sing and then do they (F)lirt with you, or do they straight (S)educing you? (SilverGirl)

10. How the heck do all the Olivia algorithms work? I haven't managed to figure those out yet. (the mystical one)

I have a question. What is the real deal with "Jennie Garth"? Was she your inspiration for the game? Did you purposely sit down every WHATEVER NIGHT and watch 90210? Did you watch it yourself or with others? Do you watch the new 90210?
...Or did "Jennie Garth" actually mean nothing to you and you were just making a cultural point?

Nice question Secret. :)

1. Why is it that Death Knights have no advantage over Thieves? They seem to be the weakest class in every regard and seemingly possess no unique advantage to speak of. (Plague Monkey)

2. What is your fondest memory from the heyday of LoRD? (Dazhbog)

3. Legend of the Red Dragon is heavily played and dissected all throughout the internet today, twenty-one years after its initial creation. 9. When girls approach you do they always (A)sk you to sing and then do they (F)lirt with you, or do they go straight to (C)ompletely seducing you? (SilverGirl)

10. How the heck do all the Olivia algorithms work? I haven't managed to figure those out yet. (the mystical one)

11. What is the deal with Jennie Garth? Was she your inspiration for the game? Did you religiously watch 90210? Or did Jennie Garth actually mean nothing to you and you were just making a cultural point?

#9 needs some help with the wording at the very end. "do they straight seducing you" isn't grammatically correct, and far be it from us to perpetuate Seth's habit of loose English. On that note, I'd be much more interested in seeing my other question asked.

I changed the wording a little, should be better now.

With regard to your other questions, I didn't add it as I am pretty sure I know that answer he will give. As Seth doesn't own the game any more, he can't make changes to it, so he'll probably just say that.

That wasn't what I asked. I wanted to know if TMO could change OUR game's language. Is that even editable? I dunno.

Ah, well I think that's more of a question for tmo than Seth, though I could be wrong?

With the tools I have, I could edit the game's text, but each piece of text would have to be exactly the same size as it was before.

Should be able to be shorter too, no? ... pascal strings have a length, you can lower that. C-strings can just be null-terminated early. Worst case, pad the end with spaces.

Okay, true. I can shorten them. Might not always look right though.
