Weezer - Why Bother?

I know I should get next to you
You've got a look that made me think you're cool
But it's just sexual attraction
Not something real so I'd rather keep wackin'

Why bother? It's gonna hurt me
It's gonna kill when you desert me
This happened to me twice before
Won't happen to me anymore

I've known a lot of girls before
What's the harm in knowing one more?
Maybe we could even get together
Maybe you could break my heart next summer

Why bother? It's gonna hurt me
It's gonna kill when you desert me
This happened to me twice before
Won't happen to me anymore

It's a crying shame I'm all alone
Not with you, nor her, nor anyone
Won't you knock me on my head?
Crack it open let me out of here

Why bother? It's gonna hurt me
It's gonna kill when you desert me
This happened to me twice before
Won't happen to me anymore

Why bother (why bother)
It's gonna hurt me (it's gonna hurt me)
It's gonna kill when (why bother)
You desert me (it's gonna hurt me)
Why bother (why bother)
It's gonna hurt me (it's gonna hurt me)
Why bother?
It's gonna hurt me

"Grandpa's Gone Gangsta" by Larry Weaver
http://cdbaby.com/cd/larryweaver

There’s something very strange about grandpa
He hasn’t been the same since grandmother passed away
He just sits around the house watching rap videos on MTV all day
And we worry all the time, grandpa thinks he's Busta Rhymes.

Grandpa: "If you really want to party with me, put your hands where my eyes could see! I can't see anything without my glasses. Where my glasses at? Hoody hoo!"

There’s something very strange about grandpa
He used to wear his pants hiked up as far as they would go
And now he wears them sagging around his waist so his adult diaper shows
He only speaks in ebonics, and he keeps asking for the chronic.

Grandpa thinks he’s a gangsta
And we think he’s too old to have his dentures capped in gold
And he’s mad because we refuse to call him O.G.
The Osteoporosis Gangsta

Grandpa: "I’m not Puff Daddy. I’m Puff Grandaddy. I’m going to pour my 40 on the block for Biggie."
Daugher: "Grandpa, you spilled your Metamucil"
Grandpa: "Beeeeee-yotch!"

There’s something very strange about grandpa
He likes to make his Craftmatic bed go up and down
He thinks he’s in the hoopty with hydraulics cruising through town
There’s something wrong with his head, he wants neon put under his bed

Grandpa: "I'm gonna call my crew. You gonna call your crew. We gonna rendevous at the bingo hall around two."
Daughter: "Grandpa it's time for your rub down."
Grandpa: "It's time for your beat down!"

There’s something very strange about grandpa
He put gold rims and spoilers installed on his wheelchair
So he can go rolling to Miami and shake his derriere
He said he got to clock his hos, he braided his toupee into cornrows.

Grandpa thinks he’s a gangsta
He thinks his pacemaker is a Skytel pager
And he’s mad because we refuse to call him OG
Grandpa's Gone Gangsta.

Grandpa: "I’m bout it. I’m rowdy. I just passed a kidney stone."

Pink Floyd: Comfortably Numb

Hello.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

Come on, now.
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again.

Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts:
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I've got that feeling once again.
I can't explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

Ok.
Just a little pinprick. [ping]
There'll be no more --aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick.

Can you stand up?
I do believe its working. Good.
That'll keep you going for the show.
Come on its time to go.

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

The lyrics are in the music... but the appreciation has to be the at the top of the list for drummers around the world. I think this puts one band above the rest:

Godsmack - Batalla de los Tambores

"Clever Sleazoid"- Dir en Grey

Wake up you’re dead

Doing meaningless shit over and over
I’m just a third-rated star covered in blood
See the prince on the rocking horse, his polishied face looks cool
I’m just gonna spill my guts on you

Under the name of Justice
You can’t break my soul
Under the name of Justice
Kill yourself
Think, you moron
Fall out of line you cockroach

Right, left, front, and back, it overflows with despair and pain
They say this anger, this emotion, and this passion is all a lie
Wither…
I’m not even trying to justify myself

Under the name of Justice
You can’t break my soul
Under the name of Justice
Kill yourself
Think, you moron
Fall out of line you cockroach

The dark dark Sunday, the blood stains
You can’t save yourself
The dark dark Sunday, the blood stains
One day I will fuck your parents

This is the last time
Welcome to the garden of destruction
This is the last time
Welcome to the garden of destruction

Koe mo denai kurai ni...
Sonna ima ni hitori to kidzuku

The night is cold and long
The night sky is deep and wide

The dark dark Sunday, the blood stains
You can’t save yourself
The dark dark Sunday, the blood stains
One day I will fuck your parents

-Alright, now put that all in Japanese with a hXc background and... goodness.

Saw them live at Family Values Tour last year. Kinda weak IMO...a lot of 12-16 year old Goth girls showed up with signs for them and whatnot...all the hype for what? To each their own though. :)!

I bet they think they're talented. I wonder how long before they use an old 70's song and make yet another bad rap "original".

Post something worthy and cheer me up!

Ur too slow!
....I really like this song. I'm lucky to have someone to attach it to.

I want to live where soul meets body
And let the sun wrap its arms around me
And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing
And feel, feel what it's like to be new

Because in my head there's a Greyhound station
Where I send my thoughts to far-off destinations
So they may have a chance of finding a place
Where they're far more suited than here

I cannot guess what we'll discover
When we turn the dirt with our palms cupped like shovels
But I know our filthy hands can wash one another's
And not one speck will remain

I do believe it's true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
But if the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So, brown eyes, I'll hold you near
Because you're the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere

Where soul meets body
Where soul meets body
Where soul meets body

And I do believe it's true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
But if the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So, brown eyes, I'll hold you near
Because you're the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere

A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
Insert road blocks to HEAVEN ...

Great Big Sea: Home for a Rest

You'll have to excuse me,
I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a month
I've been drunk since I left.

These so-called vacations will
Soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest....

We arrived in December
And London was cold,
We stayed in the bars
Along Jarring cross road.

We never saw nothing
But brass-tops and nook.
Kept a shine on the bar
With the sleeves of our coats.

You'll have to excuse me,
I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a week
I've been drunk since I left.

These so-called vacations will
Soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest....
Take me home!

Houston station
The train's heading North,
In the bucket car
We looked back and forth.

I stole crooked dice
Through Yorkshire's green fields
We were flung into dance
As the train jigged and reeled.

You'll have to excuse me,
I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a week
I've been drunk since I left.

These so-called vacations will
Soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest....
Take me home!

By the light of the moon,
She drift through the streets,
A rare old perfume
So seductive and sweet

She teases and flirts
As the pubs all close down,
Then walk us on home
And deny us a round.

You'll have to excuse me,
I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a month
I've been drunk since I left.

These so-called vacations will
Soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest....
Take me home!

The gas heat is empty
It's damn past two
The spirits we drank
Left ghosts in the room

I'm asking again
Come on, please take me soon,
And don't lift my head
Til the twelve bells at noon!

You'll have to excuse me,
I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a week
I've been drunk since I left.

These so-called vacations will
Soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest....
Take me home!

I think tilo might like this one:

Jonathan Coulton: "A Laptop Like You"

Here you are at last
To bring my cold lonely soul sweet release
From my weary past
Always searching, the one missing piece was you
And I beg you, come away with me
And together we will find a place to call our own
I can't wait to see what I can do
With a laptop like you

It's not your CD slot
Or the Unix on which you are based
You make my lap hot
Cause underneath your aluminum case there's love
And I forgive your strange one-button mouse
I forgive the way your keyboard leaves marks on your screen
I can overlook a fault or two
For a laptop like you

We will always be together
In love in spite of everything
Hang on tight through wind and weather
Heaven knows what time may bring

In a year or two
You will seem big and heavy and slow
I will carry you
To wherever it is laptops go to die
And don't think it won't be hard on me
How'm I ever gonna find a way to justify
The money I will spend on something new
For a laptop like you
For a laptop like you

hey, that's cool. jonathan coulton is cool, so i should have expected as much!

i particularly liked:

And I forgive your strange one-button mouse
I forgive the way your keyboard leaves marks on your screen

simply because it's so true (as everything he said there was basically.....)

Ah... I see how it is... it takes lyrics about an overpriced aluminum laptop for tilo to read 15,000 word posts :whistles:

You Were On The Cross by Matt Maher

Lost.
Everything is lost
And everything I’ve loved before is gone.
Alone, like the coming of the frost
And a cold winter's chill in my stony heart

Where were You when all that I’ve hoped for
Where were You when all that I’ve dreamed
Came crashing down in shambles around me?

You were on the cross

Pain.
Could You take away the pain
If I find someone to blame
Would it make my life seem easier?
Alone, all my friends are asleep
And I can't find anyone to stay awake with me

And where were You when sin stole my innocence?
Where were You when I was ashamed
Hiding in a life I wish I’d never made?

You were on the cross
My God, my God
All along, all along

You were on the cross
You died for us
All alone
All alone

You were on the cross
Victorious
All alone
All alone

You were there in all of my suffering
You were there in doubt and in fear
I'm waiting on the dawn to reappear

Brian McKnight - 6,8,12

Ooh, ooh
Do you ever think about me?
Do you ever cry yourself to sleep?
In the middle of the night when you're awake,
Are you calling out for me?
Do you ever reminisce?
I can't believe I'm acting like this
I know it's crazy
How I still can feel your kiss

[1] - It's been six months, eight days, twelve hours
Since you went away
I miss you so much and I don't know what to say
I should be over you
I should know better but it's just not the case
It's been six months, eight days, twelve hours
Since you went away

Do you ever ask about me?
Do your friends still tell you what to do?
Every time the phone rings,
Do you wish it was me calling you?
Do you still feel the same?
Or has time put out the flame?
I miss you
Is everything okay?

[Repeat 1]

It's hard enough just passing the time
When I can't seem to get you off my mind
And where is the good in goodbye?
Tell me why, tell me why

[Repeat 1]

Sing it for me
Ooh, ooh
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a government-created job.
