Thanks, I've just checked them out.

What's the Brooks saddle like? I know they are a really high end brand and seem to be on all the top bikes, but I don't quite understand the appeal.

Probably about half the recent resurgence in Brooks popularity is the retro/hipster/tweed cyclist revival. Apart from that, they are essential saddles that you break in, that is, they mold somewhat to your riding posture while remaining firm. They also have an extremely long life if properly maintained, so people get very attached to their comfy worn in saddles after owning them for 10-20 years.

So the appeal is probably a combination of: aesthetics, feeling that the saddle becomes more 'yours' and getting to feel that you are old timey by using a saddle that is still handmade in Britain using traditional techniques.

As far as comfort, that a saddle designed over a 100 years ago got it so right is bizarre, my last saddle was a foam with seat post suspension and the comfort levels are fairly similar.

They're a bit of a British icon, and a really old brand (probably the oldest bike saddle maker?), they dropped in popularity with the rise of cars and the rise of the hi-tech lycra cyclist, but are now returning with single speed and internal hub commuter bikes.

Who wants to be interviewed?

We've ground to a halt again with people responding to interview requests. I might start nominating people myself....

Just an FYI, I'ver removed the bit where you nominate another person. It was fun, but we're at the stage now where everyone who is nominated is not a forum regular and takes ages to respond, if at all. I'll just randomly pick people who are active at the moment. If you want to be interviewed or want to nominate someone, let me know and I'll organise it if possible. Also, feel free to add a question to ask them so I don't have to keep thinking up questions!

Jess, Hidden Imp already said Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton. I'm also curious as to what your novel is about.

I guess to re-answer that one...

Ryan Howard and Mark McGwire. Two big oversized baseball players. One is naturally big, the other had help.

Just a quick administrative note, I have passed the interview torch on to Walker. He will be looking after the interviews from this moment onwards. I need a break from it and Walker always showed the most interest in posting here, so I feel it is in good hands. Things may change a bit, that's completely up to Walker and he's welcome to do what he wishes with the interviews.

Thanks Walker and good luck! :)!

Who is Electra?

Seriously though, I have no idea why Electra left Nuklear. Her last post was the day after I joined here. But there have still been plenty of great interviews posted by Tilo. Read them and comment about anything you find interesting!

Anyway, I'm going to be continuing interviews in Tilo's format, so anybody who wants an interview PM me and I'll send you the questions along with a personalized question. Once you send me a filled out interview, I'll add it to the queue. Interviews will be posted in the order that I receive them (and I'll tell you how many you have to wait for). If you haven't been interviewed in over one year, you can also be interviewed again since things change in your life and also newer members likely haven't read your previous interview. First time interviewees will have priority, though in getting posted.

Also, I'm going to do some themed interviews where multiple people get asked the same questions. And then you can read their answers juxtaposed. I have some ideas for this such as LoRD strategy (with tmo, Einherjar, and Valkyrie), perhaps sports (Tilo?, Jessrond?, Einherjar?), maybe beer since a lot of people here like talking about that. Or whatever other ideas people bounce off of me.
